Aghia Moni
An important place of worship, dedicated to Virgin Mary and Saint George. In 1766, a shepherd found an icon on which it was written that Virgin Mary is “The only hope of everything”. The monastery was built and named Aghia (Saint) Moni (the only one) after that incident. The temple began to be built when Nikiforos Mormoris was the bishop on Kythera and it was extended and renewed in 1840 by another bishop, Prokopios Kallonas.
